Moraff's MomJongg v7.0 – Win9x/ME
MomJongg is a mahjongg solitaire game. It was created by a mom for other moms and will keep kids (and their moms) interested for hours. Its features include a tileset created from children's artwork, 3 separate tile layouts, relaxing background music, 3D tiles with shadows, hints, undo, cheat mode, etc. MomJongg is a great mahjongg-style tilegame where you match up the tile pairs to make them disappear. The children's artwork on the tiles is terrific (and not just for kids!) though it lacks a little contrast in its colors and is therefore a little harder to view than might have otherwise have been the case. The three tile layouts are excellent and include a mega layout which uses a whopping 286 tiles (regular mahjongg games use 144 tiles). Cheat modes are, of course, never used (believe that and you'll believe anything!) and you would, of course, never use the tile re-shuffle mode when you come to a grinding halt having exhausted all the pairs. The game is probably suitable for most kids over 7 or 8 and, of course, their parents. The biggest problem with all of the Moraff games is the extensive nag screen which appears at the end of the game. Apart from the pastel colors in the tileset, MomJongg is a worthwhile game to grab – even if you don't have a troop of ankle-biters under foot. Access this 5.05MB download from: Win9x General Games

TempusFugit v1.0c – Win9x/ME
TempusFugit is a utility which displays the time in Roman numerals and the date in Latin in the desktray (next to the clock). It features Roman script mode (4=IIII, 9=VIIII, etc) or medieval script mode (4=IV, 9=IX, etc), you can change colors and/or font, etc. This is a novelty program which serves no real benefit. However, it is cool to be Latin and even cooler to bamboozle your friends with your knowledge of medieval Roman numerals. Grab a copy of TempusFugit (and a life!) and become a groovy dude. Please note that the install program is in French (another cool language) but even if you don't parler vous francais you won't have any trouble setting up this utility. EasyRayer v1.0 – Win9x/ME
EasyRayer is a raytracing engine library which adds power through this library for any raytracing program. This program is unreviewed but the author says: "EasyRayer is an easy-to-use creator of photo-realistic, synthetic scenes. You just have to give EasyRayer the list of your 3D polygonally-bounded faces, the position in space of some light sources, and some characteristic features of the surfaces (color, reflection index, etc). Then, just place your camera and shoot." If you enjoy creating raytraced graphics then EasyRayer appears to be an excellent add-on. Access this 219kB download from: Win9x Graphics Programs

Active Stock Analysis v2.3 – Win9x/ME
Active Stock Analysis is a stock analysis and market forecaster using 19 intelligent & classic technical analysis methods. It features new Quotes (delayed 15 minutes) & historical Quotes to analyze stock, displays 18 charts in a window and marks buy/sell signals last 30 days on charts, displays Dow's real time intraday charts, stock intraday chart indicators & information on Market Update, Stocks on the Move, News Index, Market Analysis and Forecast, Stock Analysis & Picks, IPO Research, Stock News, Message Boards, Stock Price Forecast, Stock Evaluator and Company Profile. Phew! Active Stock Analysis offers a tremendous amount of information for the stock market enthusiast or professional. While it seems unnecessarily clunky and awkward to use in some areas, once you grasp the underlying concepts you will find that this is an excellent analytical program which could earn you millions if the data you receive is applied correctly. When you unzip the main download you have to find the setup file at: X:\unzipping\Stock-Analyzer\StockAnalyzer\Media\StockAnalyzer\Disk Images\disk1\SETUP.EXE – which is unnecessarily cumbersome (setup files can be in a flat directory structure). When you run the setup program you will be asked for a serial number. The author advises that you can put any figures that you like in that box (no serial number is offered by the author). If you are a trader – or a wannabe trader – then grab a copy of Active Stock Analysis and be prepared to be impressed. Access this 1.28MB download from: Win9x Internet Related

Shortcuts Map v1.1 – Win9x/ME
Shortcuts Map allows you to view and manage hotkeys assigned to shortcuts on the desktop or in the Start menu hierarchy, and easily to change a hotkey or find an unused hotkey. Often it is hard to remember what hotkeys are assigned to what shortcuts and this a fabulous way of getting a list of shortcuts and their hotkey status. You can sort on program name or on the hotkey column (grouping all the assigned shortcuts together) so you can quickly see if a particular hotkey has been assigned. Hotkeys (keyboard shortcuts) are not as popular now as they used to be but they provide a much faster – and easier – way of accessing programs than with the mouse. If you want to change a hotkey, or assign one to a shortcut, simply double click on the name and the property window for that shortcut appears. Simple. If, like us, you have been a little lax in assigning hotkeys to launch programs then this is a good opportunity to change your ways. Shortcuts Map is a "must have" utility – even if you don't think that you need it! Access this 400kB download from: Win9x Desktop Utilities

Animated Books of the Bible v1.0 – Win9x/ME
Animated Books of the Bible is a fun way to learn the order of the books of the Holy Bible. It features Old Testament or New Testament books, easy & hard modes, animated Christian message upon successful completion, no-penalty help mode, etc. The individual books which make up either the Old or the New Testament are randomly mixed up and you have to place them in their correct order. Originally designed to help children learn the order of the books of the Bible, it is just as helpful for adults. If you get stuck just click on the "Help" button and you are told the name of the next book. There is no penalty for using this help but obviously the less it is used the better (it is an educational tool). Once all the books have been correctly listed, there is an animated Christian message as a reward. Animated Books of the Bible is an excellent tool for learning the books of the Bible and is recommended for all Christians who aren't "word perfect" in naming the order (or even all the books!). Catholics should note that it only includes the main 66 books, it does not include the Apocrypha. Access this 1.14MB download from: Win9x General Games

Camtech's CT Cookie Spy v2.0 – Win9x/ME
CT Cookie Spy allows you to view and delete spying Internet cookies. This program lists all the cookies on your computer, date and time they were created and gives you a link directly to the Web site that put them there so you can decide whether to keep them or delete them. It is extremely easy to use but it is probably too easy to start just deleting cookies and forget the positive role that they can play towards your Internet experience. However, there is no doubt that some cookies are invasive and it is these which we would like to remove. Unfortunately, we know of no program that tells which cookies are benign and which are malicious. Please use CT Cookie Spy with extreme caution – you could find yourself removing beneficial cookies, like the ones which automatically log you in to certain sites. Nutrition Facts Convertor v1.01 – Win9x/ME
Nutrition Facts Convertor can convert nutritional information found on food packages from the listed serving size to one that you specify. It can also convert the amount of servings per container. Simply copy the information from the label into the left hand side of the program, insert the new serving size (or the new number of servings per container) click on the calculate button, and read off the information in the right hand frame. This is great for anyone who is watching their weight or who has a problem with a specific food group. You can use it to bulk up, bulk down, or just keep tabs on what you're eating. Follow the Leader Christmas v2 – Win9x/ME
Follow the Leader Christmas is a children's 'Simon Says' game where you must replicate the pattern of moves as you 'follow the leader'. Select the character you will follow from a list of 16 mainly Christmas oriented figures and also select the level – from level 1 with 4 moves to level 10 with 40. The game lacks the fancy graphics of some similar programs but it makes up for that by being highly addictive – once you start you won't want to stop! Start moving up into the higher levels and you will find it extremely hard to win. The challenge is excellent. Because it has so many levels it is almost impossible to out-play the game. Even if you could complete level 10 the challenge is such that you could attempt to repeat the feat many times and still find enjoyment. The characters you follow are a little childish and the program could do with a make over by someone who can create quality ray-traced graphics but don't let that put you off. Give Follow the Leader Christmas a try, you could be quite surprised by just how it sucks up the hours. Access this 1.93MB download from: Win9x General Games

APStarter v2.0 – Win9x/ME
APStarter allows you to execute a program or sound file, or restart/shutdown Windows, when a set date and time is reached. While waiting, it remains minimized as an icon in the desktray (next to the clock). This simple-to-use program hands over control to the operator so that timed program starts – or timed Windows restart/shutdown – can occur. APStarter is most unpretentious but carries out its duties with ease. We can envisage lots of occasions when being able to time the execution of a program – or a system reboot – could be most handy. UPDATE

TextShield – a word processor using both rich text (RTF) and ordinary ASCII text (TXT, BAT, HTML, etc) – has been updated to version Re5 (build 90) with a download size of 1.64MB. The author advises that changes in this version include: a lot of new features (Insert Symbol dialog etc.), spell checker, help files etc. The lack of both the spell checker and the Helpfile were mentioned in our initial review and we are extremely pleased to see them rectified in this version. Definitely a program to look at again. Grab this update from: Win9x Text Programs

Color Cop – a small utility which converts RGB decimal values to RGB Hexadecimal Triplets – has been updated to version 4.0 with a new download size of 13kB. The author advises that changes in this version include: added menu; support for Delphi Hex codes; reverse color option; random color option; always on Top now toggleable; and fixed minimize bug. Access this update from: Win9x Graphics Programs

WebKey 2000 – a desktray icon utility to open Websites in your browser, send mail, run programs, etc by using user-nominated hotkeys – has been updated to version 1.2 with a new, smaller download size of 236kB. The author advises that changes in this version include: hide and show a series of active windows; launch default browser using the existing window; execute webkey using the clipboard buffer; open Windows Explorer using a specific directory; sorting features for both Action and Hotkey columns; enable and disable individual webkey; browse button to locate files/documents/programs; and numerous bugfixes.
