Army Tanks 2 v2 (Gold) Win98/ME/WinXP/Vista/Win7
Army Tanks 2 is a tank-oriented combat game where you take your tank into wacky battles. It features 7 vehicles (5 tanks & 2 Jeeps), 13 missions on different continents including 3 side quests (named Bonus Rounds), "godmode" cheat, retro graphics, and more. Full of spelling mistakes (English is not the author's first language), Army Tanks 2 is quite a good time-based combat game that includes some strategy and RPG elements as well as the normal shooter functions. Initially you might find the time much too short to complete even the first mission but you soon master the game and you can complete a level within the allotted timespan. Graphics are reasonable, but not spectacular, and the game automatically goes fullscreen from a 640x480 actual window size. Instructions are a little too basic but, with trial and error, you soon start to learn what you can, and cannot, do. Controls are basic too the arrow keys to move the tank (and the tank commander) and the Ctrl key to fire a shell. Like the first version (also available at CFS), Army Tanks 2 is better than it first appears and is even quite addictive as you learn to master the game. In spite of its shortcomings, we enjoyed playing Army Tanks 2. Worth a look! Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95. GeoIP v1.0 WinXP/Vista/Win7
GeoIP is a small tool that determines an Internet visitor's country based on their IP address. It features a database of 96,000 records, it is simple to use (just paste in the IP address), it has a full Windows install, and more. If you ever need to know what country someone comes from when all you have is their IP address (say, from a log of visitors to your Website) then GeoIP will give you that information instantly. Just copy of paste in the IP address and the country of origin appears below. Anyone who is interested in where their visitors come from will want a copy of GeoIP. We do, and we loved! Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95, 98 or ME. Access this 1.29MB download from: WinXP Internet Related
PhoXo v7.1 WinXP/Vista/Win7
PhoXo is a powerful image & photo editor. It features layers, multi-level undo/redo, over 50 special effects, batch processing, many tools (crop, painting, retouching, measuring, navigation, marquee, lasso, magic wand, clone, etc), text effects, clip-art, frames, patterns, textures, shapes, and more. It can read and write to BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, TIF, TGA, and its own native format, oXo, and read ICO and PSD format images. PhoXo also includes a number of photo enhancing tools, like red-eye removal, glow, sepia, and more tools to help retouching, correcting, or improving your digital photos. This is an awesome photo editor that is, in the author's words, a "mini PhotoShop". With full support for layers, and the ability to download thousands of pieces of clipart, frames, etc from the author's site, PhoXo is more than just a simple photo editor. The interface is typical so anyone with even a small amount of experience using photo editing tools will feel at home as soon as the program is launched. Without doubt, PhoXo is one of the best free image and photo editors we have seen. We loved! Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95, 98 or ME. Hamster Free Zip Archiver v1.1.0.11 WinXP/Vista/Win7
Hamster Free Zip Archiver is an archive manager that supports major archive formats (ZIP, 7z, GZIP, BZIP2 & TAR). It features 3 levels of compression, drag 'n drop, Windows Explorer integration, password protection (file locking), presets (e-mail, RapidShare, CD, DVD, etc), file splitting, supports 40 languages, includes 2 themes (dark & light), and more. Apart from being able to write to the major archive formats (see above), it can also unpack ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, DMG, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MSI, NSIS, RAR, RPM, UDF, WIM, XAR and Z archives. Hamster Free Zip Archiver is an excellent archive manager which compressed 16.2MB of our documents into a neat 5.44MB archive using the medium level of compression. You can run the program from within Windows Explorer using the right-click context menu integration, but it may be easier for novice PC users to use the drag 'n drop facility in the main program window. When you download Hamster Free Zip Archiver you are only downloading a helper file it will download the main files as part of the installation. We aren't sure what size these files are but it appears to be over 10MB. We don't know why some authors do this as it adds to the download size (the "helper" file would not be necessary if just the main program was downloaded as its own archive) but, apart from that, we find it annoying you must be on-line before you can install the program and it cannot be installed on a computer which is not connected to the Internet. That aside, Hamster Free Zip Archiver is a creditable archive manager that does an excellent job of packing and unpacking archives. We liked! Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95, 98 or ME. Access this 378kB+ download from: WinXP General Programs
Nullsoft Winamp v5.61 WinXP/Vista/Win7
Nullsoft Winamp is a high-fidelity multimedia player. It features a built-in spectrum analyzer & oscilloscope, allows drag 'n drop playlist editing, includes an ID3 tag editor, gives access thousands of on-line radio stations, has a built-in pre-amplifier, includes visualizations, and more. This is an awesome multimedia player, though it does have an emphasis on music. It plays almost any music file you care to name, including MIDI, and most of the playlist formats. It even plays audio CD files. Its support for video is less impressive. While it plays most of the main video formats AVI, MPG, M2V, Flash, WMV, etc it misses the popular MOV format, which is a disappointment. Nullsoft Winamp is not hard to use, though it does not have the best interface we have seen. However, it is quick to learn and, once learnt, most users will be most impressed with this player. Apart from its limited video support, Nullsoft Winamp is a multimedia player that should be on your download list as one to try. We loved! Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95, 98 or ME. Access this 11.4MB download from: WinXP Multimedia Programs
IObit Unlocker v1.0b WinXP/Vista/Win7
IObit Unlocker is a simple drag 'n drop utility that unlocks files or folders that are in use, or where access is denied for other reasons, so they can be deleted, moved or renamed. We have all faced the situation where we cannot delete or move a file or folder because Windows says that it is "in use" or simply says that access is denied. Drag that file or folder onto the IObit Unlocker window and you are given the option to "Unlock & Delete", "Unlock & Rename", "Unlock & Move" or "Unlock & Copy". Cool. What's more, it works! We opened an executionable file, tried to delete it through Explorer but failed, dragged it onto the IObit Unlocker window and instantly had it deleted. Simple, fast and effective. IObit Unlocker is a "must have" for your utilities toolkit. We loved! Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95, 98 or ME. Last Conundrum of Da Vinci Deluxe v1.0 Win98/ME/WinXP/Vista/Win7
Last Conundrum of Da Vinci Deluxe is a sophisticated 3D puzzle which requires a high level of logic to unlock Da Vinci's 8 masterpieces. It features 67 levels, challenging gameplay, sensational 3D graphics, fullscreen & windowed modes, and more. This is an excellent game of logic where you must manoeuvre a block, over a series of blocks, so that it falls down a hole. The block's movements are limited, and there are a number of different blocks to cross which have different properties. Once you have unlocked eight levels, the first of Da Vinci's masterpieces is revealed. Fortunately, you can make as many attempts at a level as you want but, as you get used to how the block must be positioned to get it to fall into the hole, the easier it becomes until you move to the next level... Last Conundrum of Da Vinci Deluxe is a genuinely challenging game of logic which is supported by beautiful 3D eye candy. If you love puzzles then you must grab a copy of Last Conundrum of Da Vinci Deluxe. We loved! Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95. Access this 23.1 download from: Win98 General Games
