Taskix is a simple utility that allows you to reorder the buttons in your Windows XP System Tray (also called the Taskbar) using the mouse.
It features an optional auto-startup function, works within Groups (including stacked Groups), uses few system resources, has a simple interface, there is no installation required (just unzip & run), and more.
For those of us who like to maintain an order in the System Tray, Taskix is superb. You can move programs from left to right along the System Tray by dragging them with the mouse.
As we always have the same 7 programs open on our desktop, and we like to keep them in the same order so we can quickly jump from one program to another, Taskix is a "must have" for us. If, for example, the browser crashes (the third program we open so the third from the left) we then close down the following 4 programs, reload the browser, and then reload the other 4 programs. Now we can just open the browser and "move" it sideways so that it goes back into its correct slot. Simple.
If you aren't someone who likes your System Tray ordered with the same programs in the same place to access them faster you will probably get little value out of this little utility. We love an ordered desktop so we love Taskix.
Try it for yourself and you will see how easy it is to use.
Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95, 98 or ME.
