Dark Woods 2
Review date:August 16, 2001
Version reviewed:1.0

Review:

Dark Woods 2 is an ASCII-based 2D graphical adventure/puzzle game where you (Eduin) must travel into the Dark Woods to try to find your village.

It features 11 levels plus instructions on how to make your own maps.

This is a simple to play graphical text adventure game which is fully playable through Windows. A little naive compared to most Windows-based games, never-the-less it has an "olde worlde" charm reminiscent of the pre-Windows days and is not only extremely playable but quite addictive.

Eduin, our hero, has sword, bow and magic to protect him as he meets all kinds of Orcs and other baddies. He must not only kill these nasties but also collect the usual array of keys, gold, etc which are scattered in his path.

If you were around in those old DOS days before Windows, or if you just want to take a peak into the not-so-distant past, then grab a copy of Dark Woods 2. You could even surprise yourself by thoroughly enjoying this history lesson.

If you have ever wondered why the old DOS games formed the foundation for most modern games it was because they were great fun. Dark Woods 2 is in that category.

Don't expect modern graphics and hi-tech sound effects but be prepared to enjoy your trip back into time with this game.

We loved it!
