1-abc.net Powerpong is a simple "Pong" game where you receive a 10 point score for every time the ball is returned and which gets faster and faster as you play.
By the time you reach 100 points the ball is traveling quite quickly and the game starts to get hard.
Requiring a 500 MHz CPU or faster, even on our 2600 Athlon test computer the ball movement was jerky and awkward until it started to speed up.
Not designed with high quality graphics or other fancy eye candy, 1-abc.net Powerpong is a small game which is surprisingly addictive for such simple gameplay. In fact, it would be all too easy to dismiss this game as a 70s or early 80s attempt at graphics and gameplay.
However, once you start to play its simplicity draws you in and you want to keep playing even if only to prove that you are better than it! Therein lies the beauty of this type of low-res game because it gets faster and faster until you cannot beat it, just better your previous score.
Fortunately it has a high score facility so you have a benchmark against which to play.
We liked the concept behind this game and understand that the best graphics and animation possible does not, on its own, make a good game.
1-abc.net Powerpong is a great little game, in spite of its apparent lack of sophistication.
Try it, you may just find that it is more fun than it appears.
