Mail Box Dispatcher
Review date:August 8, 2003
Version reviewed:1.00
NOTE: the review only pertains to the version/date mentioned above. Subsequent versions could be quite different from the reviewed version.
Review:

Mail Box Dispatcher is an anti-spam tool which previews incoming e-mail messages before they are downloaded, giving the option to delete unwanted messages directly from mailboxes.

It features built-in auto-selection rules, multiple mail boxes, quick access to e-mail client software, and more.

The ability to check mail before it is downloaded to your computer is the best way of eliminating spam and viruses because it cannot arrive at your computer. You can view the mail on your server, specifying the number of lines you wish to see, and then simply delete it before it is downloaded.

Once you are happy with the mail awaiting you, launch your e-mail client directly from Mail Box Dispatcher and get the mail you want delivered normally. Sweet.

An easy-to-use program, probably the hardest part is setting up your e-mail accounts so the program can access them for you. Once they are set up, click on the "Get List" button and a list of the mail waiting for you is displayed. Any questionable mail can be viewed (the default is the first 5 lines, which is normally enough) and all spam mail can be deleted directly from the mail server.

Mail Box Dispatcher is an excellent tool and one which most users will find invaluable.

Worth grabbing!

Update:August 20, 2003

Mail Box Dispatcher has been updated to version 1.01.

The author advises that changes in this version include: change port of Pop3 server; new format of e-mail account string; customize E-mail Clients List & add command lines; added 'Charset'-decoding for Recipient, Sender, Subject; some fixes in client part; rewritten 'Disconnect' algorithm; some 'design' changes; refreshed Tab-moving; fixed minor bug in e-mail accounts display; and a 'Hint' windows will appear now in Mail Accounts Lists (useful if account has big name-string).

Update:September 24, 2003

Mail Box Dispatcher has been updated to version 1.10b.

The author advises that the Pop3 client was remade and includes a built-in e-mail messages cache. Now the Pop3 client receives previews of new messages only. This new hidden feature fully increases the 'making preview of message' process.

This version also: adds 'auto-check every X minutes' & 'auto-disconnect after X minutes of inactivity' functions; it can play a sound & show a report message through the tray icon if new messages are available on any e-mail accounts; it can auto-delete unsolicited messages with auto-select rules set; adds 'client/server messages' & 'auto-delete' logging; and some display bugs fixed & and some design changes made.
