KaraFun is a karaoke player that contains its own editor.
The player features a Direct3D animation engine, plays KFN & KAR midi files, has a playlist manager, offers fullscreen or windowed display, and more; while the editor supports KAR & KOK files, imports MP3, OGG, MID, KAR, S3M, MOD, IT & XM audio files, offers real time rendering, and more.
This is a terrific karaoke player for everyone who wants to break free from the bathroom and exercise their acoustical abilities elsewhere. It might not improve your singing but, if the volume is loud enough, it might drown you out.
Seriously, KaraFun is a great way to create your own karaoke songs (copyright considerations notwithstanding). The editor is extremely powerful, allowing you to create some well animated displays, and you can even include musical and vocal guides.
Whether or not you are vocally challenged, it is an excellent way of sharing your voice with the world around you. There are a few KFN files (the native format for this player) to download from the author's site, or you can create your own.
We considered KaraFun a well thought out and professionally presented program. It supplies a need for people who enjoy karaoke, though potential copyright infringements should be looked at carefully.
Note: we have been advised that this program is not suitable for Windows 95.
KaraFun has been updated to version 0.30.
The author advises that changes in this version include: completely new player engine for KAR files; new visual presets for KAR replay; new shortcuts in the editor; direct access button to the library; multiple add or remove in the library; and a lot of little enhancements and some bug fixes.
KaraFun has been updated to version 0.80.
The author advises that changes in this version include: improved karaoke display, CD+G replay (CDG file with MP3), progressive or per bloc filling, training mode, unicode character set support (Chinese, Japanese, etc), and it can now play & import KOK & LRC files.
