UnReply is an ASCII text editor (Notepad replacement) that can use six different cleaning tools for reformatting text that has been mangled by e-mail replying & forwarding, etc.
It features toolbar, keyboard shortcuts, can handle files larger than 64kB, no install routine or Registry entries (unzip it into a folder and start using it), and more.
While UnReply is a very credible Notepad replacement offering a product far superior to the one supplied with Windows, it is the bonus function of being able to remove unwanted formatting commonly found in forwarded e-mail messages which makes this program stand clear of the opposition.
It can sort out awkward looking text, with odd line breaks and those annoying >> marks and does an excellent job on them leaving the text virtually as intended.
However, it still performs extremely well as an ASCII editor and Notepad replacement offering fixes for most of the common complaints made against Notepad (filesize limits, no toolbar, does not recognize that altering word wrapping should not require the file to be re-saved, etc).
We even loaded up our 10MB, 500,000-line test document and it was opened quickly!
If you are looking for a Notepad replacement then UnReply is worth looking at.
If you are looking at a program to remove unwanted e-mail formatting then UnReply is worth looking at.
