Completely FREE Software (commonly known as CFS), and its advertisers and affiliates are deeply committed to protecting the privacy of Internet users. Below is information outlining our continued support for the responsible management of consumer information.
Consumer Information
During the process of delivering content to you, CFS does not collect any personally identifiable information about you such as name, address, phone number, or e-mail address. However, CFS does obtain some types of non-personally identifiable information such as the Internet Service Provider you use to connect to the Internet, your browser type, or the type of computer operating system you use (Macintosh or Windows, for example). See below for more detailed information.
The information collected by CFS is used for the purpose of collecting statistical data to ensure that we are offering the types of programs that you want to download and for measuring ad effectiveness on behalf of our advertisers.
Information CFS Collects
To enable CFS to provide better targeting to you and appropriate reporting for our advertisers, CFS collects several types of non-personally-identifiable information about consumers who are served ads by the CFS site. This information includes:
Your IP address: a unique number assigned to every computer on the Internet. The type of information that CFS can infer from the IP address is a geographic location.
Your domain: e.g., .com, .net, or .edu. This is standard information that is available with all communication sent on the Internet.
Other information that CFS can infer consists of:
Operating system: e.g., Windows, DOS, Macintosh, or UNIX;
Browser version and type: e.g., Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer;
Browser language: e.g., Java or Unix;
Internet Service Provider (ISP): e.g., MindSpring or AOL;
Clickstream information: CFS can infer how you use the sites and pages on the internet, and can infer your local time.

Cookies
CFS, as well as most sites on the Internet, use 'cookies' to enhance your experience on the web. CFS cannot use these cookies to personally identify you in any way.
What are cookies and why do we use them? A cookie is a unique number that will be provided to you the first time you visit the CFS site or click on an ad. This unique number, which is stored in a cookie file on your computer, helps CFS and advertisers target ads they serve to you and also to find out which freeware categories are the most commonly accessed. This cookie can help CFS ensure that we supply the content you want and that advertisers don't serve you the same ad multiple times. It also helps the advertisers understand what you like and don't like about their offerings so that they can cater better to your needs the next time you are interested in their products or services.
While we believe that cookies enhance your Internet experience by limiting the number of times you see the same ad and delivering more relevant content to you, they are not required for CFS to deliver content to you.
If you do not want the benefit of cookies, there is a simple procedure to manually delete your cookies. Please consult your Web browser's Help documentation for more information.
Membership In The CFS Site
Information provided by anyone joining CFS as a Member is held in the strictest confidence. Personal details, e-mail addresses, usernames and passwords are securely held on the CFS server, and a back up copy (in case the information is lost from the server due to a system crash, etc) is securely held in our Australian office.
All information is kept confidential and is not sold, bartered or given to a third party. The only mail a Member will receive from joining CFS will originate from CFS itself and not from any advertiser or spam list.
CFS uses both 2CheckOut.com and PayPal to process credit cards. Both those companies have similar, and extremely rigid, privacy rules. Members might also receive mail, pertinent to their purchase, from the credit card processor they chose.

CFS has a strong anti-spam attitude and does not condone or promote spam or any other unwanted electronic mail.
As part of this policy, CFS only uses an "opt in" subscriber base in other words, you have to request to be added to the list! We do not purchase e-mail addresses or "trawl" the Net for them. Neither do we ask our existing subscribers to 'add a friend' to the list.
A confirmatory e-mail is sent whenever someone is added or removed from the CFS subscriber list. This ensures that the newsletter recipient is informed when changes are made. Obviously, if a name was added or deleted without that persons knowledge or approval they would know about it as soon as it happened via this confirmatory e-mail.
E-mail addresses submitted for the CFS newsletter are kept confidential and are not sold, bartered or given to a third party. CFS uses the Dada Mail (formerly Mojo Mail) e-mail list management script on our server. This program securely stores subscriber information on our server and, in case information is lost from that server, we keep a backup copy of our subscriber list in our Australian office. However, we are the only people who will see your address. The only mail a subscriber will receive from this source will originate from CFS and not from any advertiser or spam list.
Each mailing (newsletter and announcements) from our subscriber database using Dada Mail includes a personalized unsubscribe link so you can instantly remove your name from this database should you so desire. The unsubscribe address includes your e-mail address and a special 4- or 5-digit pin number so someone else cannot unsubscribe you. The unsubscribe link looks like this:
http://www.completelyfreesoftware.com/cgi-bin/dada/mail.cgi?f=u&l=cfs&e=cfs@mail.com&p=7616
In the example above, the subscriber's e-mail address is cfs@mail.com and the special pin number is 7616.
