Review:

PackWord is a small tool which compresses a Microsoft Word document (DOC) file into a smaller, compressed, DOC file.

The compressed DOC file is saved with an embedded macro which will automatically expand the document when opened by MS Word (assuming you give MS Word permission to use the macro).

This program does not work with smaller DOC files, or with DOC files which have an image embedded in them. However, it makes quite a big different to large documents.

We tried a 556kB file and the resultant compressed file was 292kB. However it seems that some documents can be reduced much smaller – even to about 15% of original size!

The program is extremely easy to use and the saving can be terrific.

If you have large Word documents – specially if you are planning on transporting them by floppy or placing them into storage –, then PackWord could be just what you want!
